Infographic: Know the ideal length for everything you share on social media
In this diverse world we live in, there are those who favor Facebook and others who prefer LinkedIn. Some of us are bloggers or tweeters in our personal lives and others must harness the power of all kinds of social media to promote our businesses.
But one thing we all have in common as we blog and tweet and “like” and post: We’re striving for an audience. We want our voices to be heard.
A new infographic by Buffer, a social media management app, and SumAll, a social media analytics and business dashboard, can provide some guidance, so at the very least, we don’t lose potential readers by demanding more than our fair share of their time and attention.
The infographic reveals the ideal length for all kinds of social media updates, including both word counts and video and podcast runtimes. Turns out, just because you can tweet out 140 characters doesn’t mean you should. So before you upload that video of your latest musical montage, note that under three minutes is the ideal length for a clip. And when you blog about the experience, keep your thoughts to fewer than 1,600 words, please.
The internet is indeed a zoo, and to make the most of it, we should learn all we can about the best ways to reach our target audiences. For more direction on the optimal length of online content, see the full infographic below.
